Not yet open

Nine months. Three before the doors, six after.

Everything except the building. Coaches recruited and contracted, the platform built, the programme designed, the community started before opening, opening day run, the first six months delivered. Then it ends, or it becomes the Operation.

The coach comes first because it takes longest. Everything else can move. That cannot.
The countdown

Sixteen weeks out to ninety days after.

Week by week, on a page the owner can read. Nothing in peak hours. Every session has a named host.

Weeks 16 to 13

The coach

The search starts on day one. Five names, interviews, an offer. Contracted to the club, not to us. Ambassador search begins.

Weeks 12 to 11

Platform and programme

Courts entered by type. Price bands, caps, minimums, enrolment windows, access instructions. The first twelve weeks designed, all off peak, all staffed.

Weeks 10 to 6

The community

The group goes public. Twenty people by the end of the first week, fifty before the doors. The first four weeks listed and bookable. A month of content scheduled.

Weeks 5 to 1

Staffing and the dry run

The rota or the ambassador rota, written with cover. A test session on the courts. Signage. The opening day run sheet. Every session in opening week at or above minimum.

Days 1 to 90

After opening

The Operation month, in full, with us doing it and the owner watching. Numbers and a call at day thirty, sixty and ninety. Handover pack written. Nothing stays with us.

What decides it

Two things decide whether the opening works.

A coach is contracted by week eight.

If not, the first twelve weeks are rewritten around staffed socials and beginner sessions with a host, and the search continues. A club can open without a finished programme. It cannot open without someone on court.

Fifty people in the group before the doors open.

From the builder's neighbours, the owner's own network, the nearest sports club, the town page, and the courts being visible. No group, no first week.

In and out

What is in, and what is not.

In

  • Coaches recruited, interviewed and recommended. The club contracts them.
  • The booking platform built: pricing by hour band, court types, caps, enrolment rules.
  • A twelve week programme, then the months after it.
  • The community group started before opening and run to a stated date.
  • Leagues set up. Opening day designed and run, with the owner.
  • A staffing model written. One page of numbers a month, and a call.

Out

  • The building. Nets, lights, locks, surfaces, the car park.
  • Being on site beyond the stated visits.
  • Member enquiries. The owner answers his own phone.
  • Food and drink.
  • Hiring a team for the club. We find people, the club employs them.
  • Anything bespoke, unless agreed in writing first.
One to three courts

The setup pack.

The same work at a smaller scale, over six to eight weeks. Platform built, pricing set, programme designed, community group launched, a coach sourced and contracted to you. Then you run it, or we do.

At the end

Handover, or the Operation.

At day ninety the owner or their person has shadowed every item of the month once. The handover pack has the club sheet, the calendar, the host list, the group admin, the numbers pages and the platform login. Everything we set up belongs to the club.

Book a call

Tell us about your courts.

Twenty minutes on the phone. We will ring you within two working days.

We run community and events across six padel clubs in the UK. Day One Padel is that work, for independent clubs. Based in Newbury, working anywhere in the UK.

By type, not a total. A singles court cannot run a doubles session.
